TESOL 18 – Day Three…

Day Three… Started my day with a long line at Starbucks…I didn’t want McDonald’s coffee again this morning so I waited patiently in line. I don’t know if you have the Starbucks app but I highly recommend it. I pay for all of my purchases through my app and can order ahead of time as well. Love it! I headed over to the convention center in the wonderful shuttle bus provided but before I jumped on the bus, I put my luggage in storage for my sister to grab later for me. Actually, before I left the room this morning, we decided to drive home instead of to fly home late that night. I may have mentioned in my post from March 28 that my sister doesn’t like to fly so driving was cool. I has some strangers take my picture next to the big TESOL sign so I could prove that I attended the conference but right before picture time, I realized that I had put my pants on backwards. Oops…got the picture then changed my pants around. The first session I attended was all about visuals…”Using Visual Literacy Strategies to Facilitate ELs Content Area Learning” by Xiaoning Chen and Mariana Ricklefs – National Louis University. This was a wonderful session as they gave excellent examples and provided handouts to determine your whether or not your visuals are okay for ELLs.  This was the only session I attended this day due to driving back. I want to give Ohio TESOL a huge shoutout for allowing me to attend this conference and for helping me with the funding. Thank you to International TESOL for allowing me to presnet and finding my presentation valuable.
