It’s been too long since my last post. I could say I have been really busy, but we all know that I could have found some time over the last months. I am sitting in a seventh-grade classroom…they are all typing a draft of a narrative, so I thought this would be a good time to get a post done. This school year has brought me to a new school, Davis Middle School, but I still remain at Karrer Middle School. I am supporting more teachers this year, but have my own class of sixth and seventh graders. I have always believed that I need to be an informed teacher and up on my research and books. I have been reading 180 Days: Two Teachers and the Quest to Engage and Empower Adolescents by Kelly Gallagher and Penny Kittle. I have learned so much about reading and writing since I began this journey with fellow middle school and high school language arts teachers. I have become addicted to audiobooks. I use the app Libby by Overdrive to listen to my books while I drive in the car. The app works with my library card and allows me to “rent” the audiobook for 21 days. I have the ability to renew them if needed as well. Some of the books I have read are as follows: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, If I Stay, Refugee, Hillbilly Elegy, The Art of Racing in the Rain, My Not So Perfect Life, Everything, Everything, Where She Went, See Me, The Silent Wife, The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, The Kite Runner, Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant, Room, The Initiate, The Traitor, The Son, The Transfer and am currently reading Ready Player One and Project 1065. I am going to leave this post and move onto a new one…I’d like to focus more on the books I have been reading. To be continued…
